Job Summary
The Safety, Training and Compliance Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees in the workplace. They are responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and promote a safe working environment

Responsibilities
  • Assist in Development and Implementation of Safety Programs: Create and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA)
  • Conduct Safety Training: Organize and lead training sessions for employees on various safety topics, including emergency response, hazard communication, and proper use of equipment
  • Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Investigate Accidents and Incidents: Investigate workplace accidents and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Maintain Safety Records: Keep accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, accidents, and other safety-related activities
  • Ensure Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans
  • Promote Safety Culture: Foster a positive safety culture by promoting safety awareness, encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives, and providing feedback and recognition for safe behaviors
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels to provide safety information, address concerns, and promote a safe working environment
  • Collaborate with management and department heads to develop and update safety protocols and procedures
  • Stay up to date on safety regulations and industry best practices to continuously improve workplace safety
  • Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
  • Develop and produce monthly safety/training metrics reporting for all projects and the entire OSP department
  • Report and coordinate with the OSP Safety Director on a regular basis
  • Assist OSP Safety Director and Management as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities     
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and auditor safety software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers
  • Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficient in using safety equipment and tools
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and first-aid techniques
  • Ability to conduct training in both classroom, virtual and field environments
Minimum Education and Experience             
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (Preferred) or equivalent combination of education and work experience 
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety is highly desirable
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in construction or utility environment (2 Years+)
Physical Demands
  • Work is typically performed remotely
  • Occasionally travel may be required (25-30%)
